Introducing the Obsidian Pro: Our New Generation 3 Shorts and Pants

The Obsidian Pro, our latest line of Generation 3 shorts and pants, draws inspiration from the unique qualities of the igneous rock, Obsidian. Just as Obsidian forms under intense pressure before becoming a sharp and durable volcanic glass, our journey to create these garments has involved overcoming significant challenges and refining our product to achieve exceptional quality.

Over the past year, we have faced numerous obstacles, but like the hardening process of Obsidian, we have emerged stronger. This resilience is embodied in our new SLAPCHALKS shorts and pants, which have been meticulously designed and tested to ensure they meet the highest standards of performance and durability.

Previously, our products were manufactured locally in small batches here in Northwest Arkansas. However, due to increasing demand, we partnered with a new manufacturer in California to scale our production. This transition required us to start from the ground up, redesigning our shorts and pants to incorporate innovative features such as integrated mesh pockets and selecting the finest high-performance fabrics.

After extensive testing, we identified a fabric that is not only soft, stretchy, breathable, and durable but also resistant to bacteria, odors, and pilling. 88% Recycled Polyester, 12% Spandex. Additionally, it is fast-drying, moisture-wicking, and non-toxic. In our commitment to sustainability, we chose a fabric made from recycled water bottles(14 bottles per square meter!!), ensuring our products are both eco-friendly and of the highest quality.

One of the standout features of the Obsidian Pro is the redesigned mesh pockets (*patent pending). These pockets are integrated seamlessly into the leg of the shorts and pants, with a protective layer underneath to ensure chalk stays on your hands and not inside the garment.
